On the interweb you’ll find no end to opinions and reviews on the various shelter options and here will be no different. The reason I’m jumping in with my thoughts is simply that I’ve been asked many times about what I use so I thought, “why not?”
My all time favorite tent?
Oz Trail Outer Limits Series Starlite 2 Person Dome Tent
I can’t seem find this tent anymore… and that sucks.
It was a relatively cheap product from Oz Trail, Australia, and I have lived out of this tent a lot both on private journeys and guiding/teaching clients. On the beach, in the mountains, this little tent has kept me dry in the worst of weather.
This little tent was fantastic for one person, even though it was listed as a two person tent. And its wedge shape allowed it to deal with extremely high winds to the degree where I rode out a hurricane strength storm with comfort. The wind simply screamed over the top, and it held down tightly. In fact it was so stable and comfortable inside, I sleep through most of storm.
